ATO online systems maintenance is scheduled from 10:00 pm AEDT Saturday 24 October 2026 to 10:00 am AEDT Sunday 25 October 2026. During this window, services may be intermittently or fully unavailable, including a possible SBR outage. For updates, visit the ATO system maintenance page.

We are always looking for ways to make LodgeiT more efficient for accounting firms and help reduce manual work.

Please take a few minutes to tell us which tools and apps your firm uses. Your feedback will help us prioritise future integrations, platform improvements, and new features.

Take the 5-minute survey

Many of you have asked for a way to connect Lodgeit to your other systems. The Lodgeit Clients API is now available as a public preview. Your practice management system, CRM or own scripts can read and update clients in Lodgeit directly, instead of you exporting files or keying in the same details twice.

What you can do

Work with clients and their details, client groups, relations such as director or trustee, and client assignments. You can also manage your organisation's members and teams, so an integration can assign clients to the right people.

Get started

1. Go to API access settings and sign in as a user with Owner access.
2. Create a service application and choose what it can access. Tax file numbers, dates of birth and director identification numbers stay hidden unless you allow them.
3. Connect your system with the application's client ID and secret. The API documentation explains how.

If someone else builds your integrations, forward this post to them.

Before you build

• Endpoints and fields may still change based on your feedback, so expect to update your integration before the stable version.
• The API works on live data. Test in a separate test organisation instead of your real clients.
• Keep the client secret as safe as a password: anyone who has it can access your client data. Give the application only the access it needs.

Tell us what you think

Please try it with your tools and tell us what works, what's missing, and what you'd like the API to cover next at support@lodgeit.net.au. If you're reporting an error, include the traceId from the error response.

Here's what's new in Lodgeit this month, plus one change to MYOB connections you should know about.

🧮 Tax to accounting depreciation

We're migrating the depreciation tool from tax depreciation to accounting depreciation. Migration is now open for all your clients.

There are three ways to move a client's assets across:

• Auto-copy creates the assets in accounting depreciation straight away, keeping your existing group structure and mapping tax methods to their accounting equivalents.
• Download the CSV, review it, and upload it if you'd rather check the mapped values, or set residual values, before anything is created.
• The Asset transform tool fills that CSV with suggested accounting methods, rates, and effective lives drawn from the ATO effective life tables, which you then review before you upload.

Pool assets need individual depreciation methods, rates, and effective lives before they can move to accounting depreciation. Use the Asset transform tool or enter your own values.

Tax depreciation in the assets register becomes read-only on 1 January 2027 and is retired on 1 July 2027, so complete your migration by 30 June 2027.

For the full steps, see Convert tax depreciation to accounting depreciation.

🔀 Compare a tax return with its amendments

You can now compare a tax return against its amendments, not just against the prior year. The Compare with… button opens a list of the versions available for that return, each showing its year and status, so you can check what changed between an original return and an amendment without opening both side by side.

⚠️ MYOB connections now require administrator access

MYOB changed its access rules on 1 September 2026. Existing authorisations are no longer valid, so each MYOB company file has to be connected again, and only a user with Administrator access to that file can approve the connection. An adviser login can no longer do it.

This requirement is set by MYOB and applies to any software connecting to a company file, so it isn't something we can change on our side. MYOB's notice about the change is here.

If you have feedback or questions about these updates, please contact us at support@lodgeit.net.au.

On 28 August, an issue occurred on the ATO side that affected some users. Lodgment responses were not returned to LodgeiT, so some forms may have moved to an Error status even though they were successfully lodged.

The issue has now been resolved.

If your form was affected:

1. Check the form in the ATO Portal to confirm whether it was lodged.
2. If the form appears as lodged, select Mark form as lodged manually in LodgeiT.
3. If the form shows a Duplicate entry, A return has been lodged, or An amendment is required message, do not lodge it again. Select Mark form as lodged manually in LodgeiT instead.

If the form does not appear as lodged in the ATO Portal, please contact our support team for assistance.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience and understanding.

🔎 Create a client from ATO

You can now create a client using ATO information. Search by ABN or TFN, then review the returned details before using them to prefill the client record, including the entity type, name, addresses and contact details.

📦 Download forms and supporting documents in one ZIP

The Print dialog now includes an Include supporting documents option. When a form has supporting documents, select this option to download a single ZIP archive containing the form PDF and its attached supporting documents.

📄 New ASIC solvency resolution templates

We have added three Legal Documents templates for company solvency resolutions:

• ASIC Solvency Resolution - Sole Director
• ASIC Solvency Resolution - Multiple Directors
• ASIC Solvency Resolution - Meeting of Directors (Minutes)

Choose the template that matches how the company passes the resolution.

🔧 Other updates

• Firm administrators can now export client and tax return data to Omble as CSV files.
• Added a middle-name field when creating a client.
• Client assignees can now be exported and bulk updated through Client Import.
• Activity Statement print layout is now more compact.

If you have feedback or questions about these updates, please contact us at support@lodgeit.net.au.

From 1 July 2026 the ATO no longer requires quarterly TFN reporting for closely held trusts. For most trusts the final quarterly report covered April to June 2026 and was due on 31 July 2026.

The ATO is decommissioning the service behind Closely Held Trusts TFN Report (TFNR) on 1 October 2026. Until 30 September 2026 you can still lodge a TFNR for any period up to the quarter ending 30 June 2026. After that you will not be able to lodge one, and the ATO has advised that prior-year reports will not be required.

Report beneficiary TFNs in the Statement of distribution of the Trust Tax Return (TRT) instead. From 2027 the trust tax return will include additional labels for beneficiaries who have not provided a TFN.

This does not change TFN withholding, and the separate Closely Held Trusts Annual Withholding Report (TFNWR) is not affected.

The 2026 tax season is almost here, and we’re pleased to share a few LodgeiT updates to help your firm get ready.

📄 Tax Forms 2026

The 2026 tax forms will be available in LodgeiT for the new tax season. LodgeiT will automatically create new forms for you in the coming days, carrying forward relevant field values from your 2025 returns where applicable.

Please note that pre-fill data will become available from 1 July 2026 as the ATO receives it. Most pre-fill information is usually available by late July.

You can also review the ATO’s overview of key changes.

💳 Activity Statement payments

Activity Statement card payments are moving from beta to general release.

From 1 July 2026, this feature will be enabled by default for all LodgeiT firms. If your firm does not want Activity Statement payments enabled for clients, you can turn this feature off now in settings.

Once enabled, clients can pay their ATO amount payable by card after they e-sign an Activity Statement in LodgeiT. The payment uses the PRN from the Activity Statement, so there is nothing extra for the client to look up or enter.

A processing fee applies and is shown to the client before they confirm payment.

This can help your firm by:

• Giving clients a simpler way to pay after signing
• Reducing follow-ups about payment details
• Directing payments to the ATO using the Activity Statement PRN

You can read more about how Activity Statement payments work here.

💬 Feedback

If you have any feedback or questions about this release, please contact us at support@lodgeit.net.au.

We've rolled out a new round of updates to support tax preparation, financial reporting and workpaper workflows in LodgeiT.

📄 AMIT tax return 2025

The Attribution Managed Investment Trust (AMIT) tax return for FY2025 is now available in LodgeiT, so you can prepare and lodge AMIT returns for the latest financial year directly from the platform.

📦 Export workpapers as PDF or ZIP

You can now export workpapers as either a PDF or a ZIP file, making it easier to share, archive, or review work outside LodgeiT.

• PDF export generates a clean, formatted document that can be saved, reviewed, or shared with clients and colleagues.
• ZIP export bundles the PDF together with the source documents attached to the workpapers, so the report and all supporting files are packaged into a single download.

🐄 Livestock schedule for financial reports (Pro only)

We've added a new Livestock Schedule to financial report templates for trading entities, including Company, Individual, Partnership, and Trust.

The schedule appears as a dedicated page in the financial report and is available in Financial Reports Pro only. You'll need to fill it in manually, which gives you full control over how livestock movements, valuations, and balances are presented.

👤 Individual tax return improvements

We've made a range of improvements to Individual Tax Returns, including expanded ATO pre-fill coverage along with several calculation and validation fixes.

More ATO data is now pre-filled across PAYG, superannuation, PSI, and work-related expense fields (FY2020 to FY2025), which reduces manual entry and helps ensure returns start from accurate, ATO-supplied figures.

We've also improved ITR accuracy and lodgment handling, with fixes covering the PSI 80% rule, WRE car balancing adjustments, negative lump sum tax offsets, spouse income where FHSS does not apply, and Medicare Levy Surcharge edge cases.

The Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) return for 2026 is now available.

📌 ATO rates remain unchanged.
📅 Submissions to the ATO can be made from 1 April 2026 onwards.
